Performance

Being in the midst of an audience can be one of the most rewarding feelings this life has to offer.  Of course, it can also be terrifying!
However, to me the chance to share what I do, either alone or with an ensemble, is a wonderful thing.

A live show of Zither Trio might include reworkings of existing compositions or new works based on the input of audience members to be performed on the spot!

The "Mr. Alison" show is a deco-punk spectacular with electric banjo and bombastic homemade instruments all belting out his unique blend of gut-bucket howling and dystopian comedy.

“. . . delivered a night of music that was totally unique, rocking, and fun.”

– Mark Guarino, The Guardian

I hired Zebulun to sing on music that I created for Timon Of Athens at Chicago Shakespeare. We were trying to fuse together Blues music, Tom Waits and ballet into a hybrid to accompany Shakespeare's language. Zebulun absolutely brought the magic and character needed to make the idea work, his vocals were both haunting and mesmerizing. The show was a success, I received a Jeff Award (Chicago's version of the Tony Award) for composition on the project. I still have people say that this music was their favorite, years later. Zebulun is a truly special performer, and I'm grateful for his talent.
